Unfortunately it is time for us to close the doors on FreeTVDown after nearly 2 years of uploading neither of us can afford the time to continue anymore. As some of you may have noticed admin has been AWOL for quite some time and i can no longer maintain the site on my own. It is far too demanding on my time. It was a hard decision to come to and i have been trying to keep it going for as long as possible but i’m afraid I just can’t anymore. It has been a brilliant 2 years and we would like to thank all of you loyal fans for sticking with us. Don’t worry we won’t leave you hanging mid season with nothing if you head on over to www.warez-bb.org and join up you will find download links to all the shows we covered plus more. Again thanks for sticking by us and i guess all that is left to say is adios!!!
Sorry about the 12+ hours of downtime today, the host had to update the ip address of their central server and a whole lot of other technobabble. Yesterday’s shows will be up shortly.
Well, a lot of stuff to add and a lot of bugs to fix, so i’ll keep this brief. The host changed their server environment and we didn’t have time to backup anything. We lost roughly 3 days worth of comments and posts.
As always, report bugs if you spot them in this topic itself. Links for this past week’s shows will be up shortly. have all been added!
As you folks know, we’ve had a heavy flow of anti-pirates on the site the last couple of weeks. And after checking the access logs of the site for hours, I still can’t figure out their IPs so that I can block them from seeing the site. It’s like looking for germs in the pacific ocean with a magnifying glass.
Now, I’m sure they use our RSS feeds to keep track of what’s new and what people are saying, so, I’m starting to believe I should just disable all the RSS feeds of the site altogether. I’d really appreciate everyone’s input on this as I know a lot of you use the feeds to keep track of everything that’s posted.
We weren’t expecting to have to move the site to another host but given all the current anti-piracy propaganda going around and with all the popular shows returning in September, we thought it was time to get the hell out of the US.
All the posts and comments are still here, but the database backup I had was corrupt, so, all user accounts have been lost. But there wasn’t any hidden benefits to those who suscribed in the first place, other than not having to fill user details in when commenting.
Also, if you find any bugs with the site or anything that’s not working, please report them by commenting in this post. Thanks.
And that’s about it. Happy Downloading as always.
PS. A note for Forum members @ Oliv3r.net, the forum will be back up soon ![]()
Still working on those modifications (I know, I’m slow and lazy… and high), but the 3-4 hours downtime the site just had isn’t my fault, I’ve contacted the host and they are about as clueless as I am as for why it happened. The site is still running a bit slow but that’s better than nothing at all. Anyway, if anyone has any useful feature(s) to suggest (within the scope of my limited knowledge), please feel free to mention it.
And while we’re on the subject of coding etc., here’s a little something to watch..
I’m currently working on some site layout modifications, to reduce the toll on the server and to decrease the loading time. If at any time, you find yourself staring at a blank white screen, don’t panic (or stare harder at your monitor…), just refresh the page after 5 minutes or so.
And for those wondering when your favorites will return, check out TVRage’s countdown.
Apologies to all about the lengthy downtime today. The host decided to upgrade their servers today, which was really bad timing as Thursday is our busiest day. Everything is now back in order, and all suscriber accounts are intact.
Well, that’s all really, have a good one, and Battlestar Galactica will be up early in the morning ![]()
